A private sitting, told by the clock

The Zone Desk is the private sitting at Keen Archway: technical analysis training spent identifying support and resistance zones on one instrument. This page is the sequence we actually keep, so you know what the two hours contain before you ask for a date.

The day before

You send the instrument and the two timeframes. We print the last 120 bars of each from the prior close and lay them on desk 2, daily sheet on the left if daily is one of the two. A brass ruler and two 2B pencils sit above the lamp. If your earlier marks exist, leave them in the envelope; we look at them only after the fresh swings are named, so the old line does not lead.

First half hour

No shading. You and Kim Minjun point at swing highs and swing lows and say which timeframe each one belongs to. If a turn is only one wick with no cluster, it is named and then left unshaded. The point of this half hour is a list of candidate turns, not a finished map.

The middle hour

Candidates that share a swing are grouped. The outer edge is the furthest wick still in that swing. The inner edge is the nearest cluster of closes that rejected. The width is allowed to be awkward. In the margin go four facts: upper price, lower price, timeframe, swing. A zone that cannot collect those four is dropped, not guessed.

Last half hour

You restate each zone without looking at Minjun’s notes. Where the sentence is vague — “around there” — the zone goes back to the middle-hour step. You leave with the sheets. Orders, size, and the decision to act stay with you after you are outside the room.

House habits

One instrument. Two timeframes. Phones face down once the first swing is named. The brokerage session you may have open at home is not opened here; the desk is paper so the wick can be argued at the size of a hand. If the printer fails, we say so and extend the hour rather than mark from memory.
